Everyday Life in a Garden, a set on Flickr.

I was wandering through the garden last weekend. Looking to see how everyday life was treating our neighbourhood gathering place.

In between chats with folks walking by or resting on the hay bales I took a couple of pictures of some of the details that make me love this place we've built.

Stakes that kids have labelled, companion plants that have been planted near to each other for protection, the first fruits and vegetables that I've seen in the community beds.

It's all just so lovely.

Although, the number of tomato plants budding right now is a great demonstration of foreshadowing for harvest season.

Perhaps a community canning/preservation program for the end of July

Breaking bread with neighbours has never been more fun

We'd like to thank everyone who attended the Season Opener Community Dinner on Saturday. It was the first and hopefully not the last Community Dinner in the space of our new Community Garden.

Watching our friends, family and neighbours gather together in this new space to eat together was exactly what we had hoped would happen when we started on this journey.

Please contact us if you think you might want to run any community events in The Rail Garden space. We hope that more events like the one last Saturday can take place through the summer.
